proposed CSU Construction Management Heavy Construction Endowed

program to hire an additional faculty member devoted to civil
construction education. Regular meetings are being held with
CSU and industry representatives to meet the program goal of
$1.5 million by December 20, 2010. You can learn more by

New Electric Drive Dozer At Special Event.
“Absolutely impressive!” That was just one of the
phrases spectators used to describe the power produced by the
electric drive system on the Cat® D7E track type
tractor (dozer) during a series of special demonstrations at
Wagner Equipment Co. in Aurora May 18 where governmental
agencies and general contractors were some the first see the
revolutionary earthmoving technology at work.

CCA Metro Denver
Golf Outing
Under
the Big Tent!
The CCA Associate Council would like to say thank you to
all of the participants, volunteers, sponsors and Trailblazers for
a packed lineup at The Pinery Golf Outing! We
had a great turn-out of over 150 players. The day was a mix bag of
rain, cool breezes but then wrapped up with sunshine and refreshing
beverages to beat the heat!
Wahoo
to all players who purchased Mulligans. We raised $1900
for the CSU Heavy Civil Team. Thank you to all the players who
willingly lost money at the Betting Hole to Terry Kish “Real Men
Eat Kish” the Enforcer. Your loss is our win and all the proceeds,
$810, go to the Construction Workforce Foundation
of Colorado for scholarships and education of our future industry
professionals.
Thank
you Mr. Gary Spaw of Johnson Auto Plaza for driving our additional
beer cart around for our many thirsty members. The “free” cart
was courtesy of the Associate Council and Associate Members!

Back! Mark Your Calendar for August 13-14!
After a one year hiatus, the CCA / AGC Joint Summer

make it more affordable and less time consuming but it still
promises to be a great opportunity for professional networking
and development as well as mid-summer family fun. The
Conference will be held August 13-14, 2010 at Beaver Run Resort
& Conference Center in Breckenridge. The agenda will include
golf and other activities on Friday followed by a reception and

Campaign To Kill Amendments 60 & 61 and
Proposition 101 Meets to Set Strategy
Coloradans for Responsible Reform, the broad campaign coalition
which includes CCA as a major contributor, met this week to continue
exploring the best ways to educate the public on the devastating
effects of Amendments 60 & 61 and Proposition 101 should they be
approved by voters in November.
The three initiatives would completely devastate transportation,
education and health care in the state of Colorado and cause the
loss of hundreds of thousands of jobs. Click here to visit the
website and be sure to share it with everyone you know:
http://www.donthurtcolorado.com/news/. In the coming
months, the campaign will be producing handouts and payroll stuffers
explaining the impacts of the three measures. It will also be
running a multi-million dollar advertising campaign.
Vote NO on Amendments 60 & 61 and Proposition 101!

Safety

A Key to
Staying Safe While Working in the Heat: Acclimatization
One of the best defenses against heat-related illnesses and fatalities
is allowing employees to acclimate to the heat. Letting workers adjust
to changes in weather by gradually increasing their exposure and
physical activity will likely reduces the risk of heat-related issues.
This week’s Safety Resource Section is a safety talk in English
on Staying Safe While Working in the
Heat.
