the entire process of planning, designing, installing, maintaining and
monitoring traffic control for work zones. Anyone responsible for any phase of

Recertification
Individuals whose CCA-TCS cards are about to expire can receive their
re-certification after successfully completing the course. Please re-certify
before a TCS Card expires. TCS Cards that are
expired are not eligible for recertification.
Certification
This program was designed to comply with the Colorado Department of
Transportation Standard Specification 630.09. Certification is a process
separate from the training program and attendance at the course, DOES NOT
automatically result in one be certified as a Traffic Control Supervisor. Upon
satisfactory completion of this course, attendees will receive a Certificate of
Attendance.
To become certified as a Traffic Control Supervisor, the applicant must have
at least 2,000 hours of satisfactory experience, related to work zone traffic
control, during which the applicant has demonstrated his/her ability to work
safely in work zones within the last 2 years.
The applicant must designate the person(s) who will complete their
Certification form. The only people who are approved to receive, complete and
sign the certification form are owners of traffic control companies, a
supervisor of a road and bridge department and/or highway engineer who works for
a state, federal, city or county transportation agency. The signature of the
person who signs this form must be witnessed by a notary public.
CCA-TCS cards are good for three years.
