On-The-Job Training (OJT)
The
Colorado Contractors Association (CCA) operates its ManPower Training Program (MTP)
for use by participating contractor members in meeting their workforce
development needs. The ManPower Training Program is organized into Skilled
Craft Training Programs and Construction Professionals in Training Programs.
The objective of the MTP is to develop employees in basic work areas of the
heavy/highway construction industry: There are 3 training options available to
the contractor for training their trainees:
- Hauling
Units/Truck Driving Option
- Heavy
Equipment Option
- Structures
Option
This
training program is to be used as a continuing On-The-Job training program. The
ManPower Training Program may be used on Federal-Aid Highway Construction
projects as well as other projects. This program is designed to help un-skilled
and semi-skilled workers acquire new skills and thereby obtain the ability to
more equitably compete for higher paying employment within the construction
industry. This program also encourages and assists the training and upgrading
of minority, disadvantaged, and female workers through on-the-job training.
